The St. James Council 12800 was chartered an October 12, 2000.
The Knights of Columbus was founded by Fr. Michael McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, CT. The Knights of Columbus was officially chartered on March 29, 1882 as a Fraternal Benefit Society. The knights of Columbus was formed to render financial aid to its members and families. The Knights of Columbus is founded on four principles, Unity, Charity, Fraternity ans Patriotism.
Through Charity the Knights show their love for the Community through food drives, supporting Special Olympics, supporting spiritually and materially, expectant mothers who choose life for their babies. Knights recognize that our mission and our faith in God compels us to action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need - something we do every day.
Through Unity we can accomplish far more than any of us could do individually. We stick together and we support one another. We may not always agree with each other but you can count on the support and encouragement from your Brother Knights to help make your life better in your Parish and Community.
Through Fraternity the Order was originally formed to provide assistance to the widows and children left behind when the family breadwinner died - often prematurely. Today our top rated insurance program carries on this tradition. Individual Knights have donated over 15 million hours of their time to assist sick and disabled members and their families. In the Knights we take care of each other.
Through Patriotism, whether we be American, Canadian, Mexican, Cuban, Filipino, Pole or Dominicans are patriotic citizens. We are proud of our devotion to God and country. We remind the world that Catholics support their nations and are amongst the greatest citizens.
